Trick-or-Treat Riddles: 30 Halloween Night Riddles for Kids

30 riddles Β· tap Hint or Answer to reveal

Trick-or-treating is the best part of Halloween for most kids: the costume goes on, the porch lights come on, and every doorbell might mean a handful of candy. All those little traditions make great riddle material, from the bag you carry to the words you shout at the door.

These 30 trick-or-treat riddles are made for kids and families. The easy ones are about the things you see on Halloween night, the medium ones dig into costumes and candy, and the tricky ones include a few jokes and some clever clues about staying safe in the dark. Read them on the walk between houses, or while you sort the candy afterward.

Trick-or-Treat Riddle Games and Safety Tips

  • Doorstep riddle: at home, ask every trick-or-treater one easy riddle before you hand out treats. Kids love the challenge, and give the treat whether or not they get it right.
  • Walk-and-guess: between houses, a grown-up reads one riddle. Whoever answers first chooses the next street (on your planned route).
  • Candy sort game: after the night is over, read one tricky riddle per handful of candy that gets sorted. It slows down the eating, too.
  • Safety, the smart way: the safety riddles in this list are good reminders. Carry a flashlight or a glow stick, add reflective tape to dark costumes, walk on the sidewalk, cross at the crosswalk, and stay with a grown-up or a group. Let a grown-up check the candy before anyone eats it.
