Brain Teasers for Kids: 30 Tricky Teasers with Answers

30 riddles Β· tap Hint or Answer to reveal

A brain teaser is a riddle with a catch. The answer is usually simple, but your brain jumps to the wrong idea first: it adds numbers that don’t need adding, pictures someone facing the wrong way, or forgets that a clock can’t tell morning from night. The fun is catching yourself just before you fall for it.

These 30 brain teasers for kids start with quick warm-ups for ages 6 and up and finish with tricky ones that catch plenty of grown-ups too. Read each one slowly, because every word matters. If you’re stuck, open the hint before the answer, and check the short explanation to see where the trick was hiding.

How to Use These Brain Teasers

  • Morning warm-up: in the classroom, write one teaser on the board at the start of the day and collect answers on sticky notes. Reveal the answer after lunch, and ask a student to explain where the trick was.
  • Party β€œstump the grown-up”: kids read the teasers to the adults. Each adult who falls for the trick owes the kids a dance move, a joke or a turn as the next reader.
  • Write your own: after a round, ask kids to change one teaser into a new one (a different number of haystacks, a different stop on the bus). Changing a puzzle is a great way to understand why it works.
